As far as I know it is unknown how to sex these fish, and they have never been bred in the aquarium.

Females tend to be fuller and heavier than the males. Other than that There are no known obvious external sexual differences. So if you are talking TSN you going to require one big tank.:thumbsup:

They're just normal shovelnoses, not tigers.

The Lima shovel nose has not been bred in captivity. There is one report that a pair laid eggs in a nest they constructed in the aquarium, but no fry hatched. So sexing is a problem!!
