Do a water change, treat w/ aquarium salt, raise temp, and add an airstone

More details can found in this sticky...2nd post is for ick.... http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=168667

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Can my plec handle the salt?

no, since they're scaleless it'll burn them.

I'm gonna disagree - disolved salts not exceeding 1 tablespoon per 5 gal. isn't gonna hurt any fish , ick meds however can harm half scale tetras and some plecs hence use half doses for where these fish are present.

Scaleless fish aren't burned by salt. In fact, I've treated clown loaches and BGKs with nothing but salt.

Your pleco should be just fine provided you don't exceed the normal dose.

I also use salt, and raise the temp to treat ich, my anistrus had no problem tolerating a salinity of 3ppt and above(ppt=parts per thousand (sea water is approx 35ppt).
3 ppt is the magic concentration for killing ich, at that concentration any of the ich larvae that either hatch from the fish, or out of the gravel will be killed. When it is on the fish, or dorment in the substrate, ich is immune to any salt or medication. This is why the treatment must be allowed to work over a matter of weeks.

How do you test how much salt is in the tank?

Refractometer.
