Just picked up a tailless 8 inch black for $80 bucks. Is this a deformity or old injury?

Shes missing her tail. The back and bottom fin wraps all the way around the end of the body.

i think the shopkeeper would be in a better position to answer that. he will know if that is an injury or deformity

Most know very little about the fish they are selling, the fish come in for supplier or customer trade in and they sell it as quickly as possible.

The picture is of low quality so I can't really tell wehter a deformity or injury. Likely there may be no real way to tell which it is.
