Redtail cat shedding clear membrane?

Does anyone know for sure why redtail cats shed a clear like membrane? Mine has been doing it and I keep getting mixed answers. I always thought it was a sign of stress or water quality issues?

my shovel nose does the same...their not stressing just shedding kinda like a snake

u sure theyre not just reproducing a "slime coat"?
