I would like to introduce CATAL and its efforts to advocate for responsible aquarium and terrarium animal legislation / ownership, while opposing those who would seek to end the aquarium and terrarium hobby.

CATAL stands for Canadian Aquarium and Terrarium Animal Legislation and is located on the Internet at:

http://aqua-terra-vita.net/catal/

CATAL recognizes that both aquarium and terrarium animal enthusiasts are in this fight together to protect our freedoms against Animal Rights Organizations, who's stated purpose is to take those freedoms away from us; and that what affects one of us affects us all.

The time has come to unite our efforts so that the Animal Rights Movement is no longer able to target and eliminate pet owners one group at a time!

FYI, here is the CATAL Exotic Animal Policy:

1. The keeping of Harmless Animals should be allowed anywhere in Canada.
2. The keeping of Dangerous Animals should be regulated in Canada.
3. CATAL advocates for responsible animal ownership.
4. CATAL advocates for responsible animal legislation.

In the past, CATAL has been fighting mostly against reptile bans in Canada, but has always been ready to fight against any unreasonable legislation that would affect either aquarium or terrarium animals. CATAL's purpose is "to keep Canadian Aquarium and Terrarium Animal Enthusiasts informed of current and pending legislation that affects their freedom to keep the animals they care about and to oppose legislation that is contrary to their beliefs."

There is already legislation similar to HR669 in Canada, which is embodied in the new British Columbia Wildlife Act. Should something similar to the new BC Wildlife Act be enacted at the Federal Level of the Canadian Government, then Canada would have it's own version of HR669.

To become more familiar with Canadian legislation which may affect your freedom to keep aquarium fish and invertebrates, please visit the CATAL webiste, and while you're there please sign the CATAL Petition.

Thank you!
