I want more people to see where my site is (or to put it in ugly terms, advertise it). What are the regulations on doing this? I have my siggy. Can I start threads with links to them as well as mention them in posts?
No, confine the link in your signature with no inviting messages such as "Click and join here". Advertising them for the benefit of your own site in any form including PMs, Visitor's messages and social groups, is not allowed. The only time we will allow linking to other forums is if there is an information necessary to share and which cannot be plagiarized on the request of the author of the said forum.

Okay...thank you. So does this mean that I have to edit my sig to include only the link? I've heard some people have been banned without much warning...

Your signature is fine, Mic. At least for me, it is.
As for people being banned without warning, they are given warnings and refusal to heed will lead to suspension or permanent ban depending on the decision of the staff. Unauthorized solicitation of the forum sites to our own members is poor repayment for the free registration and privileges of this forum given by the staff.

Hate to rain on your parade, but other forums advertised have recieved complete ban on all staff without warning due to enthusiastic members as I have been told by a close friend. I am not insulting the decision, just stating some facts :chillpill:

I know several people banned without warning for solicitating sites. No such warnings were given. And once they are banned they cannot defend themselves. Either policies written by the mods are being violated by them (no names listed) or policies have seriously changed.

I am a bit... saying that a ban without any warning is a bit ridiculous and should be given some attention as to why that is happening

I do not need the chill pill when I can explain coolly our side.;) The solicitation of links via PM, VM and social group is unauthorized, period. This is where we draw the line. You are doing us very poor favors by stealing our members to another forum no matter whose side is enthusiastic.

Puffcrusader, see my answer on quote above. We draw the line where we decide the ban has been warranted. There are many cliques here that are soliciting unauthorized links. We would have appreciated at least if it is simply done outside the forum, not inside here or confine it in your signature but some people are not satisfied and chose to use other means of communications featured in this forum.
The question by OP has been answered. Any more questions unrelated to the topic should be asked in PM. I might remind you that you have no right to question the corrective actions of the staff done to your friends, much less the ones involved in cliques.

What the banned members were doing is no different than spam. There was a warning that everyone agreed to.

I hate how people who only know one side of a story are so quick to judge. Learn to take things to PM instead of airing out the dirty laundry that doesnt even concern you.
