So I got my new Rhom and Im switching from feeders to shrimp. Right now its about 3.5". I drop one .5" piece of shrimp in each day. But it only eats a little and leaves the rest. What should I do?

just keep trying... before long, he'll inhale the whole thing. the fact that it eats a little right after a switch from feeders is a great sign, so you're definitely headed in the right direction.

cut the shrimp into bite size pieces and feed them to him one at a time. The last one he doesn't catch and eat right away is the last piece you drop. I usually leave it in there and he eats it in the next 20 minutes or so.

Here it is... I used to have a bunch of cichlids in this tank, and debated for a while whether or not to go to a single specimen tank. I got to say that I dont regret it at all. This is definitely one of my fav. What do you think?

Just don't let the food lay around as it will foul the water.

yeah when i said earlier that I leave it in there. Well I do leave it in there, but I watch that piece of food and if he doesn't eat it relatively quickly I net it out. Most of the time he just has a mouth full of shrimp and when he swallows he goes back and eats it.

Hes got the red eye, and right now its about 4".
Heres my process for feeding. I thaw the shrimp for about 20 mins. Drop it in. It sinks to the bottom right away. Ill leave the room for about 20 mins so my moving around doesnt scare him and what ever is left over which is usually 90 percent of it I remove.
Any advice?

you can try to cut it in a thin long strip that it can just swallow whole instead of taking just one bit out of a big chunk. cut to smaller piece so you don't waste the whole shrimp.
over time it'll eat the whole thing.
do you have powerhead in the tank? the more energy it uses the more hungry it gets, maybe it'll eat more then. just keep trying. you can also soak it in garlic water for a while, which may help it eat more.

add the power head, the more exercise it does the more energy it burns and the more hungry it gets ===> the more it eats :)
