So i'm helping in the construction of a new fishroom.
It's a small space, 260x32cm, but it'll be enough for the purpose. The objective is to maintain some new fishes received from exports and quarantine them.
This is the space

I'm going to use a ceiling that we call sandwich panel. It as 2 blades and in the midle as something to isolate.
I don't know the name but i'm going to search in the inetrnet.
It's something like this

I LOVE it! Having water lines right there will make water changes easy-breezy! What do you plan on for filtration? I would, personally, do all sponge filters and run a central air system. Because you are so good at building things the central air pump could be run outside with a covering and enclosure to help reduce noise in the room itself. Just make sure to keep the pump off the ground for rainwater purposes.
This will really come out fantastic I think. The tiles on the walls are something I haven't ever seen and I really like them.
Is the metal in the ground for drainage?
i have so much respect for people that can visualize something, and actually do it. props to you. *claps

severum1

Thank you all.
wow_it_esploded thank you for your input.
I don't think that i'm going to use a air system. The system that i'm going to use for aeration is the same that i use at my home. Only water fall. This aerate very well the water. it can be a bit noisy but there are several ways to minimize that ;)
At the bottom i'm going to build 3 sumps. One in each wall. Middle level and uper level will be for the fish tanks.
It's not ot big but it will be enought for the purposes, i hope.

Are you going with some kind of central filtering system for all the tanks?

Looking good. Nice size tanks too.
Wow! Awesome room, and the tanks look great. Can't wait to see them up and running. :)

He mentioned that he's using a 55 gallon sump on the bottom row of each wall. That would be interesting to see once it's all plumbed.
I think his top tanks are about 110-125 from the looks of them. I don't know metric tank sizes very well.

There's still a lot of work to do :( Only 4 tanks are running. This is just the begining and not done yet.
This 4 tanks have 2 x 150*80*50cm = 600lt each and 2 x 130*80*50cm = 520lt each

Now, how should i heat the aqua?
IS better to heat the air, because it's not a big area, or to heat the water?
What do you think? I need some cool ideas to do this.

i think you should def heat the water. the temp of the water will keep the room a suitable temp.

x2 Water holds heat better than the air anyways.
And your set-up is just sickenly sweet. You've got a real dream building there!

wow....very smart...well if its a trickle down theory like i believe it is....i'd say put a heater in the sump if there is room or at the tube where the water hits the first tank....i think sump could but the best....GREAT JOB....never would have thought to do the central sump tank

I'd try to keep the ambient temp of the room stable and heat the water. Both won't have to work as hard to maintain temperature and you have redundancy.
Beautiful set up.
Find a good Titanium heater for each sump and you should be good to go. That much water will keep the room warm too.

Thank you for your ideas.
I think i'm going to try both ways.
I'm going to buy a good water heater and perhaps something to heat the air, to help a bit.

I think that they will house a lot of diferent things.
Starting with cichlids, african and american. Some rays ;) and some aro. And a lot of other things :D
Did you get anywhere with your heater setup?
I'd recommend something like this
http://www.aquacave.com/finnex-500w-deluxe-brtitanium-heating-tube-1923.html
One for each set of tanks. Having the controller remote means you can mount one controller for each set of tanks so you can keep each set at different temperatures for different types of fish.
I'm getting one of the 800 watt heaters for my 300 gallon I think.

After reading this thread, I've started on your Greenhouse story. I'm still at 2008! Got a bit more reading to do - long thread, but fascinating. Just got to the part where you're building wind turbine blades - loving it! let you know when I get to the end - don't tell me anything - enjoying the surprises!
Looking forward to seeing fish in the fishroom...

So here are some pics from my lattest invention :D
Another crazy one, ehehehe
I used a heating system from a washing machine and a temperature controler all offered by 2 friends :D
With that i build a heating system for my aquas :D
The temperature controller
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/alberto_gil/IM_4017.jpg
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/alberto_gil/IM_4016.jpg
The controller let the heater work until the 28ºC. Over that he stops.
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/alberto_gil/IM_4018.jpg
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/alberto_gil/IM_4020.jpg
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/alberto_gil/IM_4019.jpg
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/alberto_gil/IM_4013.jpg
Now i'm going to build a box to put the heater inside to avoid any possible damages that may happen.
I can tell you it works very well and now i have a 2000W heating system, eheheheh

Looks great and love the idea of using a washing machine heater.. I might have to keep that in mind if I ever get a monster tank or fish room. Keep up the good work.
