Are you certain that they are a male & female pair? I have seen some where it was much easier to distinguish between the two (male & female)... and then others where it was abit more harder to distinguish the two?... couldn't even tell if it was a male & female, male & male, or female & female? not until they reached fairly good size, was it noticeable?

Please post more pics when you can and GL!

Hey brah, were your aurantics fighting in the quarantine tank, or your main tank? Do you see any tension between the snakeheads and your endi and/or tigrinus?I'm no expert or anything like that on Channas... but from seeing your posted pics, both kinda look like males to me?? but I don't know?... I may be wrong?

How about trying to send pics of your pair to snakeheads.org. See what their thoughts, views, and/or opinions are on them? If anybody is able to help, it probably would be them?!! Well, brudda, Hopefully everything works out for you and they stop bashing on each other... GL! :headbang2

e pixs taken just now was in the main tank while e fight took place in the quarantine tank....

i thought that female has more prominent vertical gold bar than the male? guess you are right...maybe i should just send e pixs to snakehead.org.

currently only the one that sustained lesser injury is in the main tank...the other poor guy who is badly beaten up is in the quarantine tank...hope that he can take his time to heal his wound and ego.... :headshake

Bro,

like I said... I could be mistaken? I am not sure myself... better to get a 2nd opinion from snakeheads.org and have them confirm it. :)

Also temperments may differ from each individual channa as well? You may wanna try putting them in a seperate tank (from main), and put a divider bewtween them.. that way you can observe their behavior towards each other. Just let your beat up auranti. heal up & recooperate first... then take it from there. GL! ;)

Hey brudda,

So sorry to hear it's passing... my condolences! :( Hopefully you are able to acquire another one close by to your area. Better luck doing so, than alot of us here anyways! ;)

Do not feel bad, just another learning experience in the hobby! Just be sure to take note of everything that you can remember during the short time that you had her?... (behavior? stressed, clamped fins, aggression, eating/Not eating? fighting continuously w/ others, water conditions? temperature? etc., etc.) And Take all in mind,,, so the next time you do have or keep another auratic., you will be more PREPARED!! GL, brudder!

Hello Nick,

It sounds like you know what your talking about?... what sh's do you keep or have kept? You sound quite confident and very "concrete" in your response to this posting,,, please tell or share where you have gone, or how or whom you acquired your valuable expertise knowledge/information from? Or is it from personal experience??

So are you saying that all female specimans get along or never fight among each other?

Yes, very nice fish, Tim! :headbang2 how big is your asiatica? Size tank?

Buddy had a couple of asiaticas, housed with some other channa species. At the time, they were all pretty much the same size,,, pound for pound tho, the asiatica's were the BADDEST!! :wall:
