because if i put some in the front it will box in the space for the bottom tanks.

i would use 4x4's instead of 2x4 for the posts

thats what i had originaly intended on doing but i let my dad convince me to just stick with 2x4's. he doesnt understand how heavy these fishtanks are once they are full of water. since i have alot of 2x4's could i just use 2 for each post?

yea just screw to togeather its just as strong thats what i would reccomend. run some along the bottom as well so the legs bow move as the tanks fill and sit. as well as braces along the top. jmo. make it as sturdy as possible so that way you know its not going to break..

Who makes a 8'x19" tank? and you should add a cross brace on the top

I checked out the gallons and the weight and you will have 2700 lbs in just water. That is alot for a 2x4 structure. you may have to separate the tanks. if you put it on anything other than a basement or ground floor room you my exceed the structural integrity of the floor also.

i would also use a 2x4 reinforcement brace across the middle of each bottom tank and three across the top tank. 4x4 or 2x 2x4 in the middle of the top tank. for the 6 posts i would make it 4x4 or 2x 2x4. Overbuilding of this will be a necessity.

I would use 2x6 for the long cross rails and 4x4 for the legs. As some one stated above there will be alot of weight on this, so do lots of research and show a more detailed design.
A couple of things, the top of your upper tank will be over 6 feet high(maintainance nightmare). Where are you planning to put all the filtration for this massive amount of water?

I have a stand thats 36" tall with a reg 125 on it, Its perfect height for me, but Im 6'4" I would definetly not use just single 2x4s anywhere. I also have a solid steel stand that is 54" tall by itself. I am no longer using that stand because the tank was to high.

this is what i got so far. i plan on putting more 2x4's on the end to simulate 4x4's.
