bare bottom is fine but i think they would be more happy and comfortable with things to search through and places to hide, they also tend to love to be in groups of 5 or more...

The fish is about 7-8inches maybe a bit larger. I've never properly measured.

But damn its fat.....Ive never seen one fatter.

Got it at hung ming aquarium in san francisco on mission st. It was the only odd one in there and I think it's about 3 inches tip to tip. It cost me $9. Here's a better pic of him.

It's going to depend on the size. If they're not big enough to be swallowed then they should be fine.

I was in Aquatic Critters in Nashville, TN today and they had some nice sized clown loaches for cheap ($12) so I snatched a couple up because they are like $40 that size here! Also I noticed an oddball in tank with dozens of smaller ones so I grabbed him as well. I now have a total of 5. Three are oddball patterned and 2 are the big ones I got today. Here are some pics! To get an idea of their size, they are in a standard 10gallon.

Bought today two hugly obese clown loachs. The weird thing about them is that they are short body and extremely fat. It is fun to watch them swim around with a 10" cl and 4 cl from 1"to3"

I finally got a good clear pic of a clown's tubercles. For those who don't know, tubercles are those white bumps on its head and is said to be a way to sex clown loaches. Only males are said to have these bumps.

It's been a while since I lost my prized clown that had saddlebar on both sides, and two spots, but I'm finally getting back into the clown loach scene. :D

I picked up three 1.5" (4 cm) loaches. All three have the saddlebar on both sides which is cool, it would be awesome if they developed spots like the loach I lost a year ago.
