So my buddy and I want to try and go snakehead fishing sometime this summer. Where would our best bet be? We are looking for somewhere in Pa or Md.

I know someone wants to give their secret spot away :naughty:

Northern snakeheads were 1st confirmed in Pennsylvania in July 2004 after an angler caught and preserved two from the 17-acre Meadow Lake in Philadelphia county...
a pair were discovered in a Maryland pond. Northern snakeheads have been found in Florida, North Carolina, California and Massachusetts.
Anglers catching snakeheads should dispose of them properly. Anglers suspecting they have caught a snakehead are encouraged to NOT release it, and report it to the Commission at 610-847-2442 or via email (mkaufmann@state.pa.us?subject=Northern Snakehead).

It is unlawful for a person to sell, purchase, offer for sale or barter live snakehead species in Pennsylvania.
It is unlawful to possess live snakehead species in Pennsylvania.
It is unlawful to introduce or import live snakehead species into Pennsylvania waters.
Transportation of live snakehead species in or through Pennsylvania is prohibited.

Meadows Pond in Queens NY. Slightly off the map for you but I know the DEC went to setting traps there to try to solve the problem, but it was kept more hush-hush than the Crofton Snakehead incident.

When you catch one, eat it. I had to see an animal die for no reason and they actually taste good. I have visited... Im still in Asia and they eat them over here.

good joke... this is entirely untrue.

however they're pretty abundant in the Potomac around DC, so if you are looking for a good snakehead trip, take your boat to the potomac river here in maryland. they're being caught in good numbers in the Mattawoman Creek, and they're present in higher numbers north toward DC.

"they're pretty abundant in the Potomac around DC"

Amazed they can stand that type of cold and fast flowing water. They are found here in hot and no current canals . Limited even than.

HI,

in florida there are marulioides which are tropical, in the Poptomac there are argus which come from the Amur region in northern China/southern sibiria they can stand cold waters.

Argus can withstand the cold because they go into hibernation. They bury themselves into the mud, and can even survive months in completely frozen over ponds/lakes.

i have caught one in tunkhannock... unfortunatley he swallowed the hook (killed itself). the last few winters have been kind to these fish giving them enough time to hibernate or acclimate to these temperatures. Its too bad we have retards letting them go. I would love to have a blue galaxy snakehead. Or we have law obiding idiots^. if you can venture further north check out the fish markets in china town...

I guess you've never heard of Mt. Dora. I've been to it's summit several times. It's the tallest peak in the Florida Mountain Range.

Just kidding. Actually, Mt. Dora is just as flat as the rest of Florida. :D

The mention of them walking the streets in DC was meant to be a political joke.

...and the problem with political jokes...is they get elected.
