What kind was it? Thats a big Pleco, I hope it was entirely closed off from other bodies of water. If it was in Wisconsin I can't imagine most Plecos could survive winter.

So few plecos can attain such sizes, impressive to see them that big. Hopefully the pond stays very warm, otherwise the pleco will probably die. Especially in Wisconsin, I doubt it would survive the winter. Common plecos out here can't even survive through the fall outdoors.

Nah, Hystrix and titanic get to be well over that size. It would not be suprised if it were an L155 A. Hystrix. I would be suprised if it survived the winter though.

If you had a Hystrix or titanic would you release it into a pond? Could you do that with your adonis? :WHOA:

Only a heated tank or in tropical areas. Adonis do not get large enough, and would not do it with him in any pond other than the heated or topical.
get him a monster tank. easier pics then too :)

Some streams here on Oahu have been infested with pleco's. All because of dumb @$$ people that let there aquarium fish go.
I have seen pleco's at least 2' swimming around.

Same here. Summer water temps might get to mid 60s but that is pushing it.

Here is a picture for all of you that are into True Monster Plecos!!! this is one of the biggest Acanthicus Hystrix I have ever seen a picture of. This guy is huge! Not nearly as big as that Pseudacanthicus Hystrix, but the largest Acanthicus Hystrix. But when you max size is over a foot that can have something to do with it.
i duno the guy is holding it out a lot. these are commonly seen monster plecos (see below), a couple of people on here have them i think. here is a nice moderately big pleco http://www.molluscan.com/fish/exploration3/acanthicus2.jpg
