My new 8" C. Barca, it has gone into a different tank from the barca pair. Doing very nicely at the moment, eating well. Has a few scratches on him b/c he decided to go skydiving on to the tiles when I was moving him. This could also go into the "What is the most expensive fish you have droped" thread! LOL

You are right about the color in the pics, but these fish change color like a cameleon. At feeding time they change to a really bright yellow. As to where I got this one ,hmm ,thats a secret!LOL

had to look again, that is one beautiful predator.
man oh man am i in awe. :drool: You should change your name to barca king! You got 3 out of 10 barca's in captivity. If eventually they do end up breeding dont feel like you would be putting a burden on my by sending me a couple my way over in HOng kong :naughty:

Thanks everyone! Sqratch he is settling in very well. Eating really well, he is sharing a tank with hoplias lacerdae at the moment, and they are best of buddies. But once the wolf gets a bit bigger I am going to seperate them. The pair are going well now, really starting to settle in and I am going to try to get them to breed very shortly. I don't know how I will go but thats where all the fun is!;)

That's risky, aren't lacerdaes one of the more aggressive hoplias? HOw big is the lacerdae?
Do you think the lacerdae grows faster?

He is about 6" at the moment, but all he is interested in is what kind of food that I put in the tank. He totaly ignores the barca and the barca ignores him. But as the lacerdae gets bigger I will have to seperate them.

Are the Barca's endangered or just real hard to get hold of ie find?
In either case I do hope you manage to get them to breed.
