Very close vote between #1 and #11

I picked #11 over #1 because it has the website on it and #1 doesn't. If #1 had the website somewhere on it, it would have gotten my vote. I really like how the fish covers both the front and back of the T-shirt but with no website noons going to know what its all about.

all's good I was torn between 1, 2 and 9 for my final 3 pick

#1, did not have the site down as many people do not know their logo but awesome loach which will be one of the great fish for many people to join the site for when theirs get huge as theres more and more species of loaches now being sold that gets big

From a technical standpoint, I agree with the earlier posts with concerns about some of these designs translating well to screenprinting. I wonder if the mod in charge of this took a sec to send the art to whomever will be producing the shirts to do a quick check to see if they have any concerns with production of any of these designs. There are a few different ways to "print" shirts, would really kinda suck if whatever design won wasn't able to transfer to being printed on a shirt well.

That said, I actually chose #1. When you're at the grocery store and you see a cool shirt do you really take note of a website on it and check it out later? *I* kinda feel like putting information like that, or phone numbers on a t-shirt is not terribly important. It's a shirt, not a business card. JMHO.

And was there any rule that said the winning design couldn't be modified? Of course that makes the choosing that much harder... :)

My god what do I vote for. I have voted in just about every contest since I've been here and usually it's cut and dry who the winner is. Maybe the ocasional tie but for real this one is off the hook. I wasn't even going to enter this contest but since I am a graphic designer by trade I though I'd be a fool not to give it a shot. I'm a procrastinator so I made mine on my lunch break in under 20 minutes the day before it was due. I thought it turned out alright and I could careless if it does good or bad (even though it's in 3rd place right now). So maybe you critics should have thrown something together instead of *****ing. If I can do it in 20 minutes you guys should be able to make a killer one in under 10 mintues, right?

Anyways this is suppose to be fun so vote and then you can go back to sipping your mocha chai latte.

The designs are fine, albeit a bit unexperienced in execution in some instances. But the contest wasn't the "Official MFK T-Shirt Design Competition For Designers Only" or "...For Clothing Designers Only" (since there is a vast difference between a clothing designer and a designer). If it was, it'd only be me and a handful of other people that would have be able to enter, if even bothered to do so. Let it go, it's just a fun competition for everyone should they have chosen to enter. No one asked for credentials to enter the competition, it's not going to come into play nor should it.

And you don't know the sources of all of the images used. They could have been obtained with permissions, could be free stock and so forth. Additionally, if the photo is altered enough, more likely than not the laws concerning privacy and publicity are considered NOT violated in most instances/locations (since the laws to vary on a federal and state-to-state level). Additionally, these laws serve mainly for people and not subjects, it's actually quite difficult to prevent altered or manipulated images (like some of the submissions) from being used, unless the photograph itself has been copyrighted or is owned by a professional or company. ...not that it makes using them OK, unless they are free stock or with permissions, but it's really a moot point here.

Totally agree. MFK is a internet site and a group of fish keepers that keeps large and extremely aggressive fish(not everyone, but that's totally fine) and this line sums it all up way too good. MFK"s slogan should seriously be this, and I would wear this shirt in a heartbeat. Sure people might look at me like WTF, then I would take them over and let them say that to the 6ft arapaima, lol. Who cares, this is MFK a great website and #2 sums it up extremely well. This isn't a beauty competition, who cares if some look a little dodgy, it would be a bit prejudice if only graphic designers or t-shirt designers could only make the shirts, we all can post threads and post pics, I think we all should get a chance to make a t-shirt, plus if you don't like it DON"T VOTE FOR IT!:ROFL::ROFL: I hope #2 wins!

im pretty new to this site but i love it. its easily the best site. i realy dont keep any monster fish inside, but i still get on here every day (well probobly 5 times a day) and read about every ones fish and tanks. thats what i think this site is all about. i think the fact that all of those shirts were designed by fellow mfkers is awesome and which ever one wins i will be buying. i think the people that are making stupid comments shouldnt be wearing the shirt, cause i know it could be the fuglyist shirt and if it said mfk id be proud to wear it.

Oh boy. I hope your anger isn't directed at my post! Sorry if I offended anyone or came across wrong! I REALLY didn't intend for it to bash anyone, my query was to whether whomever is throwing this contest checked first to make sure the entries would actually WORK as t-shirt art before posting them instead of possibly getting stuck with something everyone thought was the awesomest on screen and have it look completely different (or not even be possible as shown) when translated onto a t-shirt. I didn't expect that every entrant would have innate knowledge of the printing process, but that *somebody* should check into it, was what I was trying to say.

I, too, am a designer by trade but didn't see the call for entries (been living in a box apparently) and did not submit anything. Since I didn't submit anything I don't feel I have the right to make critiques (not that I would anyhow) about any designs that were submitted. There are some REALLY good designs that were submitted for sure!

Hope I'm not digging a deeper hole for myself, I really didn't mean any harm from my prior post! Seriously, there is some kickass talent in this group!

I find it pretty restricting to be given a 12" square to design a shirt on. These shirts should be dynamic. You cant do that well, in a box without regard to the shape of a shirt...

To be honest, nobody's gonna rock any of these shirts! You should extend the deadline and maybe someone will come up with a better design. The loach, #1, is the only one that looks like a shirt design, but it still looks amateurish cause it doesn't have any design concept on it.

Also, people shouldn't use pics that they didn't take themselves cause that's copyright infringement.

Just a professional artists opinion, that's all.

Either they are hand drawings or photos, with threshold increased, no true illustrations. They seriously lack professionalism.

#1-Should have been a monster, and a lot of space is left blank.
#2-This ones good, but dont think its very suitable for a T-shirt design
#3-Threshold increased, looks too diagrammatic instead of artistic.
#4-Nice line art, but its good in complement to logo, not as good for a poster.
#6-looks dull and boring
#9-I voted for this, could have been improved using strong lines around mouth of the fish.
#13-Its a monster indeed, but its should look more like a fish than a monster, we are keeping a fish that happens to be monsters actually.

you are forgetting one important thing...this is a contest.. and we are all the judges... we choose what we like and vote for it... if you don't like them don't vote... i want to see original ideas when i look at a tee shirt design.. not professional ideas... shirts may be nice but certainly no feelings went into it when you get into the professional aspect... and speaking of professional...have you seen some of the new tee shirt designs out there....yikes... i would wear any one of these beauties.. i hope no one is insulted by the lack of some peoples pride to be a a member of MFK above all else...

I picked # 1 because it looks good!!! Even though it doesn't have the website it. It does have the logo. If the people have been on this website they will know what the shirt is about. I don't think that if you put the website on the shirt it will look good. I won't like it with the website on it. It just won't look right. I love the way the fish looks with its red strips!!! Awesome!! I also loved the 2nd one but i loved more the color and the way the fish popped out with that color!!!

I don't want a proffesional shirt, I want a shirt that is plain and simple and to the point, all of these shirts are great, for real for the people who made them. I do like them all, I would honestly wear anyone of these, it's a shirt I've seen way worse shirts than these could ever be, lol. These are for pure fun, chill people on the criticizing, were not all designers. It's okay to criticize to a point but saying that this shirt is "dull and boring" is not even trying to show positive criticism. :)
