Plecos vary in price quite a bit depending on type, juvi vs. adult, and/or the place they were purchased. Some people spend just as much money on shipping as they do on the actual fish in question. You might want to visit the thread Wildfyre just mentioned and PM some people who have plecos you like to get a better idea of what's available for how much:thumbsup:

Availability is also a big factor. While it may cost me 25 to get a Temmincki here, you could not get it unless you took a long trip to get here, or you had it shipped. Either way its going to cost more than the value. The best way to find great plecos, is to talk to a LFS that you trust, and look at their ordering lists. They should have several plecos on the lists. If you have the datz, or the Aqualog book, take it along and look them up if you aren't certain what they look like. One of the LFS brings in lots of Plecos, and I window shop all the time. 80% of them come home with me but that is cause I hoard them. I even look at LFS I don't trust because they can order from a good company.
your best bet is to shop around, internet and not, cause it varies too much from where your from, and the pleco you want to get

Man that is a great looking 330! love the yellow in him, and great looking fins. Mine recently developed a red tinge near the ends of his tail.

Depends on which you mean. Blue eyed? Blue Panaque? Blue Phantom?
I have 2 L239 Blue Panaques, I have posted pics of them, but will be getting more later.

does anyone know the price of a 4-6 inch L239, or blue pleco? and if they sell them in socal.
WyldFya
05-03-2006, 5:01 AM
I got my L239 that was 3" for $40 on exoticfinds.net. I also got one on petsolutions, but don't recommend that site due to poor quality. They max at around 4 inches though.

are there any pleco sites.. specializing in them wyld?
WyldFya
05-03-2006, 5:08 AM
Exoticfinds.net has a great selection of plecos, and I have ordered through them, and the quality is superb. I plan to make another order through this site sometime soon. Miles and Waldo also have good plecos from what I've heard, but haven't had the chance to get up to see what they have, and what I have room for. That and I could drive up to see them, and not have to pay shipping at all!
my most recent was a 3" GN, got him for 12.99, should have got more i suppose

humm, i dont realyl trust sites from getting fish from, the only site i trust is MFK lol
WyldFya
05-03-2006, 5:12 PM
Exoticfinds will take care of you, and they have very good fish. However, if you only want to trust MFK, then Miles and Waldo all the way! You will have to pm them or check out xoticaquatix.com. They both are very active posters on the forum, and are very knowledgable.
just been looking looks like a good site. wish theyd do to england. i'd like their L128 they've got advertised.
WyldFya
05-04-2006, 6:43 PM
Yeah that L128 is a beauty. The fish in the picture is one of the ones they have in stock always. The have both species of L200 in stock also, or did.
i prefer it to the green, (which i know you're more partial to wyldfya) and would like one. then again like everyone i have a long wish list
WyldFya
05-04-2006, 6:55 PM
my pleco wish list isn't that long, its just really steep.
i meant fish in general. theres about 5 more plecos that would make me content i think
WyldFya
05-04-2006, 7:47 PM
ah, yeah there are probably 7 plecos I really want, but the list of all fish, well that is too long to even try to list.

My scarlet and my royal pleco. My scarlet cost me 250 and my royal cost me 125. Im in alaska, so they are really really hard to find up here, and shipping is a pain. Enjoy the pics.
wow another example of price different in comparison to where you live. they look good though
