micro goes into shock

one of my micros got a really bad shock yesterday night. i fell asleep then i got up suddenly because i needed a glass of water and i realised the tank light was on. then when i moved to get up, one of the micros got really scared, tried to hide but then flipped over and sank to the sand :WHOA::WHOA::WHOA: i was like omg omg omg its DEAD :( but then it was sort of having these little shocks and it was breathing really fast. two minutes later it flipped back up and swam into cover. needless to say after that i didnt get much sleep. i have heard of them going into shock over sudden drops in temperature...but this one took me completely by surprise!
 
how is your temp?
maybe you scared it, causing it to wizz into the glass knocking it's self out, my bala shark's are sooo dam skittish,if someone walks to tank to quick they go nut's banging into thing's causing a mad panic in the tank, once one knocked it's self out like you exsplained, also an old angel did that knocking its self out cold, it was out a good 10mins,,,was fine after however, how is your one now, just one thing that spring's to mind, have you checked your heater? make sure it's not cracked or broke, i had a heater once that litterly broke right at the top part pulling off like a test tube, needless to say the fish were acting really eratic,
 
no, it just got really scared and literally just fell onto the sand and was twitching. its coz im a heavy sleeper so it didnt expect me to wake up so suddenly :D its absolutely fine now. just thought i'd see if anyone else has had their fish go into shock too. it really scared me though..i was like ohhhhh nooooo its dead. then it just got back up and acted as if nothing had happened. lol.
 
odd, i wonder if fish get epilepsy?or that sleep disorder just falling asleep randomly,maybe someone can shed some light for you, however having that ugly mug appearing through the glass at all odd hour's prob just scared the $%% outta him:nilly::WHOA::grinno:

i didn't fall asleep for long, it was probably 2/3 hours, i always turn on the light when they get fed.
