Yesterday i took out a breeding pair of H. Temporalis from my 135 and sold two Nics, which left 7 Atabapos and one one C. Amazonarum. To this i added two more Atabapos. This morning i see that a pair had laid eggs, i guess the Temporalis pair didnt let them breed. All i need to do is move the Amazonarum to see if any others will pair off.
Here are some pictures of them

Are there empty egg shells (light gray)? Also, the female should have her mouth shut and refuses to eat....

No, no egg shells and everyone just ate. Hoping that the second time around i can have some wigglers.

IME they usually pick up ~48 hours after spawning, which means they'll have to be able to defend the eggs for that long...
Maybe you can move their "favorite object" to one end of the tank, and stick a divider in there after they spawn next time? Worked for me....with some unexpected complications....

I think that right now they are trying to figure out who is the dominant one, since i took out some fish and added two more.
I had a pair in a separate tank by them selves but nothing happened so i decided to put them all together.

Thanks, just move some fish around and see if that helps.

On Saturday i took out the Amazonarum to leave the Atabapos alone and today i see that a pair had layed eggs. There also seemes to be another pair trying to lay eggs. Hopefully i get some fry this time.

Just cheked and it seems like the male has the eggs in his mouth. He didn't eat when i gave them food, so i guess they are in there.
Heres a video of them right before the spawn

I just looked at the tank and saw that another pair had just layed eggs, more than the other pair. lets see if more of them pair off.
Ive noticed that they like to put their eggs on the rocks and not the ceramic pots i have in there, I guess they like the rough surface better.

:headbang2, that's cool. Have you talked to Sean about his schedule this coming weekend? You need those sponge filters.

Is the pair in a community tank? Either way i would just leave the female there because the fry are inside her mouth, so theres no danger. If its the first time they have layed eggs then i wouldnt expect fry untill the second time around, but you never know. It was a week from the time they layed eggs till today, but i would wait longer so that when you do take them out they have a higher chance of survival on their own.
