My little sister has never been into fishkeeping until she saw this big guy sitting in the LFS. He's mean, ugly and she fell in love. Two days later he was in my spare tank with my spare filter in her room. It's been a little over a week and his color has improved immensely. She's named him Rodney and he is one ugly fish. I'm terrible at guessing but he's at least 10".

Just thought I'd share.

male zz.
Looks like he's got a lot of personality he's probably a real cool first fish for your sister. Looks aren't always everything in keeping fish. I've got a 18" giant gourami that was neglected the first 10 years of his life.. Talk about an ugly fish LOL.

If Rodney's 10 in. I would say you might want to change Rodney to Rhonda.

My sis doesn't really care if Rodney's a boy or girl. But thanks all for your comments.

Here's a size reference.

And Camphilophus I've seen the pics of that gourami. Great save, and I think he's adorable.
