this guy crunched his eye as a baby and has no vision on his left side. You can see in the pics that he has a lot of scratches on his left side. I'm not sure if they are from him bumping into stuff or from the other fish picking on his weak side.

great shots dude. I threw in 20 danios, 50 guppies, 6 red eye tetras, and 5 un-ID'ed native fish in my cichlid tank just 2 hours ago, myself.

that is just sick and wrong there are only a few fish that must eat feeders to live but other than that sticking a fish in just to watch it died is cruel and barbaric!

hehe, I guess I'm just a cruel and barbaric sorta person
went thru 50 guppies 20 danios 7 red eye tetras and 7 sunfish just this past weekend. I like entertaining myself, tho buying expensive fish gets ah.. expensive :P My fishies sure love the hunt, though.

that is not true many "monster fish" do not need live fish sorry to be a little harsh.
BTW what is that in pic number 1?

you can be as harsh as you want, but I have been keeping fish for quite a while now and hardly ever use feeders. Temensis, however, are very picky eaters and are almost impossible to feed only non-live foods. I have had them eat pellets and blackworms, but they just don't beef up on those types of foods. They will obviously eat some when they are real hungry, but usually they will just ignore a pellet. There is no way anyone can afford a strict diet of blackworms for these monsters, as they could easily go through 3 lbs. in a week. I feed them feeders maybe once a month to give them a really full belly and a little excercise, and I find nothing wrong with that.
The fish in the first picture is a crenicichla lenticulata.

I don't remember saying that all "monster fish" need live food??? It just seems a little odd that you are going to join a board of this nature and lecture about feeding predatory fish other fish. Just my opinion.
