My dynamic red aro has a great appetite and seems to eat a variety of foods. Lately he has grown to really love silver sides, eating 4 or 5 at a time (he's only about 10"). I don't feed him past where he has a full belly but his hunger doesn't seem to be slowing down. He still eats shrimp, pellets (on occasion) and of course super worms (as a treat).

Are silver sides good to feed to aros? I haven't noticed anyone else feeding their aros these. My rays also seem to really love them and so does my dat who competes with the aro for them (and my oscars go crazy over them too).

In my opinion it is sorta like feeding ur salt water lionfish rosies. Silversides r salt or brackish water fish so u shouldn't really be feeding that to ur freshwater aro! That is just me!

Yeah, that's what I was worried about. I guess I'll just use them as a treat to mix up the diet (like when I treat myself to junk food - it's still food but I don't want to live off of it).

Sounds to me like your taking good care of it.

not exactly, rosies lack the nutrients salt water fish need. Salt water fish do not lack the nutrients fresh water fish need.

for short- silversides are fine, so are smelts.
