Has anyone ever grown baldcypress in a pond or aquarium as a bog plant I was thinking about doing it any recomendations.

no expert, but cypress tends to leach tannins and may turn your pond tea colored

tanins ar ok with me they won't harm my fish because my water is so hard i would need a 20 foot baldcypress to lower the ph, the koi colors i prefer are the darker colored so it will hinder the viewing quality but it would be sweet to have a tree in my pond. the pond is already tanin heavy due to squirrels shredding acorns into the pond, solved that by cleaning it out of acorns and putting a fine mesh net over it, koi and goldfish and channel seem to be fine with the tea water.

I live on an oxbow lake on the edge of the world's largest bayou. My yard is full of bald cypress and many are over 8ft in diameter and over 40ft tall. Plus, they put out 'cypress knees' up to 12ft from the bole. They tend to sag when the humidity drops below 50-60%. Might want to consider this before trying to grow them around your pond.

They will grow in my climate if in a mosit area or aound a water source and i plan on dwarfing it similar to what is done with bonsai to keep it small. by the way oddball you are lucky to have that landscape to see every day!

Around here, they also grow pretty far from water because the water table is pretty high. I know of some that are over 30' tall not grown near water, they just don't produce the knees
