Well i like iggys, most species of them are nice, but for greens i wouldnt get them due to size, housing, and everyone having one, well i see this guy and he is a stunner,i wonder how he would look like when hes an adult?

says hes WC from florida,we know they release them there so you think it bred with a native species? maybe a iggy that is being able to handle the winters in miami? and not fall from trees?

you never know,we all evlove!

Most people dont have iguanas anymore, this is 2009 dude :P

Thats pattern most likely isnt an inheritable trait, probably similar to the 'pastel' red-eared sliders. Something to do with incubation temperatures I beleive, would have to double check that though, but I do know pastel red-ears are not genetic.

Ok first of that ig that I already saw doesant worth half the price it is being asked for, you can get twice nicer in rescues and much more tame then a wild cauth with questionable past. Second there is no other lizard native to the us it could have hibridized with, it had to be another iguana and the only lizard that so far has fitted the critteria is Iguana delicatissima in the carebian wich frelly crosses with greens. Tirth green igs have a great deal of variacion that is NOTHING comparing to some stuff Ive saw;) the is litle colors green igs dont come in. You have black, blue, red, yellow, orange and of corse green morphotypes that happen in nature in the diferent areas of distribucion. What about the Saint lucian green iguana wich adult males are black and white striped like a zebra?:D And you also get "artificial" morphotypes like albino both tyrosine positive or tyrosine negative ones, as well as the selectively bred blue, yellow and reds. But they are all green iguanas, they are all cold vulnerable. That somewhat diferent coloracion doesant have any particular adaptive advantage, a advantage would be it being black like some populacions on the carebian wich would allow to get hot quicly even with clowdy weather

Oh so now it is a "fad" to get rid of iguanas just because there are "cooler" animals on the trade:irked: Iguanas ARE OWESAME animals, increadbly responsive, curious, inquisitive and even loving animals, real regal looking and deserving of all the care we can possibly give them and if we know what we are getting into they are joyfull pets and can get into our household and be housebrocken just like a cat. And if this wasnt quite enough for you they also come in espectacular and really expensive higher end morphs that you need to rob a banck in order to get ahold of;)
Oh and the "pastel" morphotype of the red eared slider is a true recessive genetic trate and with a bit of genetic work it will be inherited by the next turts generacion. The high temp thing is a myth

Yeah me too. Baby green iguanas are so colorful, it's a shame they turn more neutral colors when they get older.

I also wish leopard geckos stayed the same colors they are when they hatch.

Actualy in the process of domesticacion of a animal including selective breeding it is very often that adult animals retain inmature caracteristics, neoteny if you will, like dogs wich act and look like wolf pupys. May come the day in wich that will apply to many herps.

That iguana advertised in kingsnake.com is just an average green iguana, nothing special (http://www.flickr.com/photos/arthur_chapman/3038670781/). I dont know how people are getting hyped to pay an extra $100 or more for soo called "red" iguanas. Seriously, they're not even red, more orange than anything... if people would take notice of all the babies that are imported yearly, you'd see them in the batches that come in... they're just a bit more orange than normal, they've been around for years and years. Its not something special, they normally tend to turn a bit brighter when they get older, but even normal green colored males can turn into these massive bright orange tiger striped beast that you see advertised. Yes like Coura stated, a few locals and iguanas from certain regions have certain coloration. But they are highly variable... just put green iguana in the Flickr.com search, and you'll see how variably they are... nothing fancy

here are some examples:

i know im kinda late on this but there is nothing special about that iguana posted on kingsnake. i saw the ad and i laughed when i read it. there are a ton of iggs that look like that. when they get older the pattern will just turn a bronze color when he is older. and they call it a "cryptic" pattern. people are idiots and will try to market anything these days lol.

i feel bad for the stupid SOB that buys that igg lol. i dont like any of the color morphs that are out for iggs. they may look cool but they arent worth the money. i have a regular igg and when mine is fired up he has a decent amount of red in him.
