Just got this from the store today for $13. He's about 8" long, and VERY yellow, I though. What do you guys think?

Yeah:)
Unfortunately the pike cichlid has been harassing him since I put him in. Hopefully she calms down and leaves him alone (she likes to make sure every new fish in the tank knows that SHE's the boss...).

They're very common, but that one is YELLOW. They are usually a much more muted gold/pink. Someone just brought in a nice 24"+ albino to the hatchery where I used to work. He had a pretty bad case of fungus, but hopefully he makes it and they can have a nice display fish

Thanks guys, I thought the yellow was pretty unique looking, which is why I had to buy it when I saw it. I just hope it keeps the bright yellow color as it gets bigger.
It's in a 125g tank for now. I'm planning for either a 220-265g glass tank next summer, or building a 300g+ plywood tank next summer. Either way, it should have plenty of room (or I'll dig a pond in the yard, and have an excuse to get even more big fish :D ).

the more they're in the light the more yellow they turn. i had a pink UV bulb for my plants with my two albinos, the one that hid all the time was white and the one that swam around was yellow. once i put them in the pond and they reached about 20" they both turned white with yellow heads.

i had two albino chanals but one of them got eaten by a bigger sun catfish, which i later traded him because i was pised off

Wait a sec, were you the guy at greentree getting this guy? When i walked in i saw the guy netting him out of one of the 125's they keep feeders and the big fish in.

Yep, that was me :D
I hadn't planned on getting a catfish, but I saw it while I was getting feeders for my shortnose gar. And when I saw it I couldn't resist. My girlfriend gave me a dirty look, but she was ok with it, and now she thinks its pretty cool.

So is that xanthic or is it the lighting? I've never seen an albino cat with that much yellow, either.

Nice, I like the color too. Unfortunatly color like that usually fades with age but maybe you'll be lucky.
Just got mine in the pond on pellets. I put him in last fall @ 3-4". He has definately doubled and then some in size. Comes out all the time to school w/the goldfish and eat. Very active and interesting cat. Can't wait til he's 4+ years old.
Very nice looking cat. Only fish in canal I have ever seen gulp down a 4 inch softshell.
The one's around here are nothing like yours just ugly drab. Didnt know they came in yellow looks nice
