whats sad is lots of time people buy a puffer and harrass it just so it will puff which can kill the poor little fish. BTW how much were they and did you pick any up

green spotted puffers aren't that big, and they require brackish-to-salt water to do well. My lfs has them all the time, and I live in quite possibly the most fish-depraved large city in the US.

Has anyone tried Bazilian Freshwater puffers? According to Axelrod they don,t need saltand only get to 6". Colomesus asellus. How about aussie Freshwater Morays (Gymnothorax polyuranadon) 28"?

The morays will need brackish water the brazillians on the other hand dont need salt however ikeep mine witha good amount of salt due too the fact that they seem to get oodinium very easily scince i have raised my salinity they never get it anymore.

I have seen these puffers at the local wholesaler. They look like a spotted puffer, they are not. They were 6-8 inches

I believe you fellas may be referring to a newly IDed, morph of the GSP: T Sabahensis (http://www.thepufferforum.com/forum/ug.php/v/PufferPedia/Brackish/T_Sabahensis/)

No, I have had the T Sabahensis, its not it. these puffers are darker with more of a molten look. Def. a Asian river puffer of some sort. Here is my T. Sab.

Agreed. I don't have any puffers that are big enough for that yet, though :(

I am fully aware to the threat of using goldfish are food for puffers. When the puffers come in a alway add a few feeder fish until they settle in. This way they can eat at will. My feeders are treated for "bugs" and are better then the pet store feeders you my buy. For example, I brought in 3 Hairy puffers, I feed then rosey reds until they settle in. After a week they are eating frozen squid. Also, puffer are starved for 3-4 days prior to shipping, so i want them to eat ASAP.
