Nice green!
But the pumpkinseed looks a bit beat up.
Do they get along?

Thanks!
The Pumpkinseed is a bit beat up, because of when I had a second Pumpkinseed with him in the 60-Gallon they would fight constantly. So, I moved him into here, and he is healing nicely. Otherwise he gets along with the two Greens.

ohh, you might have a spawn if your lucky and have good water quality.
I've done nothing special in the past but have had 4 spawns from my old greenies! I did nothing special but weekly 20% water changes. And every few months I'd awaken to a well made nest an lots an lots of eggs!

I was hoping to get a spawn from the two. Last night they slept together in one of the hiding spots, lol. I read that they spawn in early June. Could I still get them to spawn, even though June is pretty much over?

As long as you keep the water warm and mimic june's weather, you should get a spawn once they are nice and comfy. But I had mine for a year until they started to spawn. They did every 2-3 months for 4 times until I had a crack at the bottom of the tank and all the water leaked out, leaving two lovley fish dead and dried up. :(
I had no interest in any more greenies, as these 2 were enough so I left the fry in there. They'd get to about an inch till the parents decided to spawn again and would eat the remainders.

Alright, thanks for the tips! And sorry for your loss with the two Greens.

lol, so as each day passes, I notice that the Minnows a slowly disappearing, lol. Which I don't mind. My guess is that the Green Sunfish are the ones responsible, but some fish have to eat.

Adding sand to the tank tomorrow. I added some to the 60-Gallon, and its turning out really nice.
I'll get some pics of the Native Tank with sand when its finished.

Added sand. Water is a bit cloudy, but the tank looks nice. I also added the Red Wolf fish into the tank, because I thought he would do better with fish more his size, and so far so good.

Greens are amazing fish. They do become aggressive and very shy though...
Good luck with yours!

wow, its nice to see someone keeping natives for once, i think it'd be pretty awesome to have a tank of Black Crappie Fish, THAT would be nice! Gotta love the pumkinseeds though, they are SO beautiful when they're big

Not sure... you never know what you might catch... I have seen Crappie, SMB, Bullhead, and some very large Pumpkinseeds (I think) in the area. We'll see what happens.

your lucky man. the only natives ive got around here are rainbow trout, channel catfish, some sort of sunfish, bluegil, brown trout, lake trout, and walley. that would make for an awesome setup. of course the tank alone would cost 10k LOL. good luck with the tank, hope to see updates

I'm visiting my folks in NY, and there is a pond about 5 minutes from our house stocked with bluegills . . . makes me feel so stupid for buying goldfish when I was a kid, I could have kept a natural aquarium with locals for free . . .

One of the reasons why Native Tanks are cool. You don't have to pay for the fish. Just need a tank and accessories. (Light, ect.)
Caught three more Bullheads. A little bit larger than the others. Total of 9. I also took out the Bluegill and the Pumpkinseed. The Greens are too aggressive, but still a very cool fish.
My really aggressive, somewhat large, )v(onsters!:headbang2
