I have noticed that one of the little females that I brought back with me in March has started to fire up a bit, I removed her and a couple males from the community of small pikes and I hope that she will chose one of the males as her mate. I got a couple of her, they aren't very good, but, you get the idea . . . this is the race from Rio Cuariem, they are the only ones that I remember seeing with the red spot at the top of the gill plate. I will process a few more, but, here is one to start with. . .

Here is another pic from the other day, I haven't had much time, the colors are a better representation of her, the first one was taken in a hurry and the settings were a bit off.

Gorgeous!! Interesting how there is the lack of a white stripe or splotch in the dorsal. Very cool!

Thanks, the white stripe is there, just very faint. I'll put up a shot of the "couple later, you can really tell the difference when they are side by side :)

Cool. Appreciate it. Perhaps as they mature the white stripe will become more pronounced? One could only hope, would look tight with that red stripe. :)

I'll have to see if I can dig up pics of the adult pair that we caught as well! One of the guys brought two very mature pairs back with him, not sure what he has left! They are FANTASTIC!

still no luck on the adult pair pics. . . here is the small male, she is a bit bigger than he is. Yes, the body color is different, they were in different tanks until recently.

Thanks for the nice comment! still trying to get them "in the mood". Her pink belly has receded - at least they aren't killing each other! :)

Here she is. . . updated :) The white dorsal strip still isn't as pronounced as I think it should be, the red belly tells me that there is no question about her sex :naughty: She seems to be getting comfortable agian and both males are getting a little too much attention. I guess it could be the diet of 1.5" Cutteri juvies that she has been hunting

That is definitely a very sexy pike. That slight accent of red on the gill plate is phenomenal! Love it!
