Nice male Rex! great body colors.... do you know origin? could be 'Rio Atabapo' - with less and dimmer head spots. Looks like you have him with some tankmates?

Wow....lookin awesome mate. Its crazy how the spotting is almost nonexistant on the face now.
Its quite probable that its a 'Rio Atabapo' lent though, as all the 'Rio Atabapo' lents I've seen have heavy pearling down the back, and also have rosetta/ocelli that continue down the back as well. Plus they retain some of their spotting into adulthood.
Yours even at a 'young age' was showing red bars down the back, and not much rosetta. The 'Rio Atabapo' that I and several other people have haven't even really started showing any red down the back, and are still covered in heavy rosettes, and they are close to the same size as yours.
Thinkin perhaps yours might actually be one of the strigata look-a-like complex. Either that or out of a locality that we aren't familiar with. Yours totally rocks 100%!!! That is a crazy amount of red down the back, I am most jealous! Definitely hold onto that pike though, as its definitely not common!!!
Here is a picture of Clints 10" + 'Rio Atabapo' male, and a couple pictures of mine at 6 to 8". You can see the difference clearly. Eggie has some pictures floating around, as does BigPic.

Thanks, yeah he doesnt have that much spotting and at times he gets an intense red color. Oh and it might also be that i just feed him pellets, might be a factor might not, either way i enjoy having him in my tank.
