Grow big and fast. Huge appetite. Need a 240 gallon 8' tank for an adult, minimum.

They are a solitary species, but people have kept more than 1 fish in the same tank before.
Evry time my lfs has some juveniles in, they loose some to cannibalism. Alltough the lfs around here dont feed their fish much, and keep them in cramped tanks.
do it great fish if you like preditors. they get big and nasty.

Will house one for some time but in my opinion, not for life.
your looking at a fish that`s 3-4 feet when mature.

im confused i got 1 person sayin a 240 gallon tank 4 and adult minimum and i got another person saying that a 300 gallon tank will house it 4 quite sum time but not 4 life??
thnx matty
Lots of these views are based on personal views. I think a 240 would be too narrow as an 8'. The 300 would do but the bigger the better.
They do get large and some of them become nasty, They are the sort of fish that would attack you during tank maintainance. You would only be able to keep one really. As a juvanile it will require a much smaller tank as the large space will make him nervous particulaly if he is alone.

that would be great for him. they enjoy hiding when their small. i remember when my little monster kept hiding behind my plants. now he's a good 18". that was 9 months ago when he/she was 4". they grow quite fast. i think a 6'x3' will do good. it's not really easy to say because some channas(giants) don't grow real big.
I used to keep one before but I got rid of it when it reached like 14''. they do grow fast but I think it won't grow the size you'll expect it to be. It would brobably be 35'' max not those 4 or 5 foot giants
