Ok guys, you all have to answer now.. dont be bashful! :p

What fish are you most proud of? Keep in mind that this is not a most expensive fish
or rarest fish question ( though the fish could be expensive and rare) but it could also be a fish that has been with you for years or just a fish thats your favorite.

Ill start first,,, my most prized fish is my 10-11 Marble Motoro .
This is my first ray and she is just beautiful!! My large 15 inch black aro and my new
Henleii are also keepers.

My favorite is my 7" male salvini. He looks nowhere as good as the salvini that Josh posted up a few days ago, but he's still my favorite fish. I really want to see how large I can get him.

He's the undisputed king in a 200g mixed cichlid tank. He's people-shy and will hide if you get up close to the tank, but when he doesn't think anyone is looking, he's an active little tank baron. I got him at 3", and I've had him for about a yr and a half.

I also love my male JD, simply because he's a beautiful and impressive looking fish. He's 2nd in command of the tank, after the salvini. My stalwart frontosa, antagonistic jewel, and impudent convict are also treasured above the others.

Gotta be my 16" African lungfish (Protopterus annectens). He's got the most personality. Believe it or not, my Firemouth pair are my most intriguing breeders. But it's hard to top the beauty of my millenium rainbows (Glossolepis pseudoincisus) and my Melanotaenia boesmanis.

I don't think I could choose one anymore. My fav use to be my RD but she died last dec. I was so heart broken.

Anyhow, I think that would be hard to choose but at the top of the list are my crayfishes, dragon gobies, four lined pims, and my oscar. I guess the pims would get it. They are so pretty and interesting. Not that what I have in uncommon or anything, but I enjoy them.

Can't really pic a 'most prized' or favorite. I select all of my fish for their individual redeeming values.

I enjoy the very active behavior and swimming style of my colony of T. fluviatillis puffers.
I like my foot long ATF for the "potential danger" feeling he instills.
I like my RTC for his puppy dog behavior.
I like the massiveness of the AUL and the fact I finally got my "Holy Grail" of fish.
I like my black morph gator gar for his primitiveness.
I like my albino P. aethipicus for her rarity.
I enjoy my FRT for his comic relief.
And, the list goes on and on.

And so do we!! Our prized collection becomes "prized" because
they have qualities that becomes endearing to us.

I rarely hear people say that they want to get an Asian Arowana
an MTigrinus or Tiger Ray because they are expensive .

They want it because its rare? Maybe
But i rarely hear people say they want this and that to their
collection because its the most expensive. :)

But i do agree with the qualities or "personalities" that you
described for each fish.

The Escondido in the pic is one of mine. I ended up cropping two pics and I sent one of mine since I finally figured that crap out....anyways. He's probably about 6 in. + and she's somewhere around 5.5 in. + (I have a breeding pair). Which brings me to this....10gal. don't seem to keep mass amounts of survivors but I'm kinda worried about throwing them in an emty 55 because current and filters are much stronger. Anyone with thoughts on this??

Hoy....I originally said I was gonna post a pic of an Esco that wasn't mine....I didn't know how to shrink file size down yet so I couldn't get mine on the post. I ended up asking my roomie before I finished the post and cropped two out and threw one up which happened to be my male breeder. And then I was asked how big they were

sleepyflight
05-20-2005, 2:07 AM
Ah hah....hahahahahahhaha. Now we can start a poll of what a dumbass I am. I was speaking of keeping fry and growing them out because my breeders are currently in a 120 with a pair of Myans a marble cat and a pike. The number of babies of course always dwindles down. I was refering to the fact that the babies eventually start widdling them selves off in a ten when they get growing but starting them in a 55 hasn't worked so well for me.

I would have to say my most prized fish as of right now would have to Mr. Bling, my 7 in. feeder gold fish becuase he has lived in constant peril with some vicous Florida softshell turtles for about 2 yrs and seems to be thriving. Mr. bling has watched as countless of his own kind go to the belly of the beasts. They say gold fish only remember for three seconds, I think I have prodigy on my hands.

I know it will sound silly but my favorites were always African butterfly fish, I just think they are cool, 5" max guppy eaters that make cool little babies which eat baby guppies.

I've never had a large tank, but the fish I am most proud of is my Mainganos male (Melanochromis cyanoerhabdos). He's about 4" and I think he is quite beautiful. He also has a lot of personality to match and is quite a vicious fish, in his own way.

http://www.aquaria.info/modules/gallery/albums/Hs-Mbuna/Johanni7.jpg

I also quite enjoy my Kuhli loaches (Pangio myersii) because they are my oldest fish-- going on 7 years.

my favorite is my [sold to me as an albino, but i think hes a lutino oscar] great personality. he loves to be petted. even my little girls pet him. he is still juvinile, maybe about 6in or so. he turned me into an oscar lover....

timkaren8803

After a quick consult with my wife, it has to Kermit, one of our 10" Oscars. Mr Personality plays peek-a-boo and gives me that fishy "I'm gonna get you" look if I kiss my wife where he can see, then she comes over and kisses the tank by him and he dances and splashes. We even set up the camera to record his "fishy shines" sometimes when he's acting crazy.

Hmmm, this is old, but I'll speak up anyway.

Right now my best is my 8" female Hystrix. She has tons of personality and doesnt look too bad. A very outgoing fish, she matches some of the motoros Ive had as far as activity level. Its not too often you see a ray practicly flip upside down and wedge herself in between a peice of driftwood and a divider then freak out because she cant get the worm. I'll try to put up some pics of her soon.

Hopfully soon my prized fish will be my tiger ray. He is still pale and thin right now but that will change soon enough.

Has to be my angelfish. He's as tough as nails and I've had him since April, but he was the healthiest Angelfish I have gotten in Petsmart ever. He's around 4-5 inches tall, and read to eat a convict once he gets large enough.

Black Aro:

Mine would have to be the marbled pim that I saved from a LFS. They had it in a 40gl with big JD's, Jags, and texas cichlids and he was all beat up. Now he is all better and has a pesonallity like a dog. Comes right up the the top of the tank when I come down stairs and I can pet him and hand feed him. The only bad part is that the cichlids damaged one of his eyes but I still love him.

3 tanks so 3 sets of favorites: first up is my african tiger pike because it is the only one i have ever seen with red fins and will only eat live food or market shrimp, then comes all of my bichirs because they are the reason i got a tank in the first place, then my cobra pike and plecos come next, followed by my now juvie collection which has 5 pbas : mono's i think, and a 4-5" tsn catfish, i love all of my fish for different reasons which would be a list too long to write but i am mostly a predator fan because i like to watch the food chain in action.
