I am in the process of setting up a large bowfronted tank, around 25 gallons and am looking for a snake. I was thinking about a milksnake but they are pricy. How can I get a hold of a wider variety of snakes for better prices then my pet shop has. Are there any recommended snakes?
I am also considering newts, and lizards so any suggestions would be great (no bearded dragons).
I live in marion indiana and havent caught a snake yet. If anyone knows of a farm around here that would be great.

i thought you lived in brazil?
maybe some small ground dwelling geckos would work, leos, fat tails, etc.
Lots and lots and lots of stuff on the Kingsnake classifieds: http://market.kingsnake.com/index.php?cat=59. Find some snakes you like that are in your price range, then post them here and get some info.
Smallish snakes that are good for beginners include most milksnakes, cornsnakes, various kingsnakes, garter snakes, rosy and rubber boas, and African house snakes.
Newts and salamanders are great. Good choices for that tank include axolotls, lesser or dwarf sirens, paddletail newts, and Spanish ribbed newts.

If you mean how will we keep the pets in brazil fed while we are here in the US, people are looking after my fish and the rest of our pets till we get back.
But if you mean what will we do with the pets in 8 months when we go back i will probably sell them for cheap on MFK or something like that.
PLANS HAVE CHANGED
Friends will lend me a very large tank (i dont know exact dimensions) and i will put snakes in there.

This^ I've snagged some great deals on cresteds off there.
Might want to look and see if a reptile breeder expo is running thru your area as well.

Humm doesant seem a great plan to me:confused: unexpected things allways happen on thouse situacions and in the end you endup giving your snakes dirt cheap to a bad home. Why not wait insted for a more stable future lifestyle? Or keep snakes in Brazil?;)
