Angel Fry?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
At 84 they may be free swimming in 6 days from day the eggs were laid.

Yes on the second question. The parents will not let them go too far. When they do, one of the parents might swallow them and spit them back out to join the others.

Unfortunately, some parents snack on some or all of their fries.

When I used to breed angels I would seperate the eggs to another tank. The adults, while they could raise the babies, would often eat the eggs, or fry.

The fry are now 4 days I think. Can I take them from the parents and put them in a plastic hang on tank with the parents? Would I need an airstone? Just wondering. Thanks.

It depends on how many fries you are planning to raise separately. Most of the time I take all of them away from the parents and raise them in separate tanks with their own filter system. Sometimes, I leave a few with the parents for about a month then grow them separately as well. The small ones has a tendency to eat their parents fins, slime, and scales to the point of making open wounds that can get infected.

You may be able to raise a few in a hang on tank. There are hang on tanks that allows water to flow thru them. Those won't need an airstone.

I have had them develop even on the bottom of the tank. Don't have a substrate for this. Mine would swim in circles building up muscles and then would start to swim.
