Anybody here ever breed datnoides?...
Or know of anyone who has? Would like to hear any stories or personal experiences from anybody?... Had a pair of Dats that spawned on me once... a (10" Indo and 8.5" Thinbar)... wasn't trying to breed anything... just Happened!!
Anyways, to cut a long story short, most of the eggs were eaten by tankmates, and the remainding eggs, lost... trying to do a transfer to another tank!! :( And to Top That Off... I ended up selling the pair for a $100!! A measley $100 bucks?!! W.T.F. was I Thinking?!! I dunno?!! :wall:
pics of the spawing pair...

as mentioned in an earlier thread, I know of no documented successful breeding of any Datnioides/Coius species. However, I have heard as yet unsubstantiated rumors of widebar datnoids being successfully bred in Asia.
Pfish member Phulltanks57 once had a pair of his Indo dats lay eggs under a piece of driftwood, but tankmates apparently gobbled up the eggs.

I didn't actually try to attempt to breed them... just happened to spawn in my tank?! Eggs were round bright red... kinda looked like salmon eggs!

actually did u notice any swelling near the anal portion?
cos I notice a pair of my Dats behaving very strangely and one of them had a swelled up anal which goes down after a few days...not sure whether tats an indication at all:p
but dun think its possible to get a tank spawned datnoids within my tank...too many predators within already...no way the young ones could survive a day:p

Shoot sorry about the spawn. Shame it was eaten before you could do anything.
Why did you sell them? $100 that is cheap - damm each of those fishes cost $150 up here.
