green spotted puffers as juveniles may be ok in freshwater, but will do much better in slightly brackish water. up until they are around 3" they will do best in SG between 1.008 and 1.014. they can be fed bloodworms, black worms, snails, krill, shrimp or most any other kind of raw seafood you can find at your local grocery store. a lot of people feed them mussels also. they need shelled foods to keep their teeth trimmed. imo, a single GSP needs at least a 29 gallon as an adult but bigger is always better. these puffers are usually very aggressive once they reach 3" or so and as adults are usually extremely aggressive and can be very difficult getting them to accept any tankmates at all. they are best kept alone but you can try some tankmates if you will have them in a large tank (55 or bigger) as the puffer reaches adult size.

also, as the puffer grows, the SG should be increased slowly, no more than .002 per week. by the time the puffer reaches adulthood it should be in very high end brackish water or full marine water.

most puffer experts recommend excellent filtration (10x per hour turnover or more) and 50% water changes weekly due to the very messy nature of puffers as well as the fact that they're scaleless makes them somewhat delicate and sensitive to water parameters. :)
