I just got this catfish from the lfs. They thought it was a "maracaibo" catfish, but nothing that comes up under that name fits this fish. Here's some pics. Its about 5 inches long, and the eyes are tiny and almost black, so they blend right into the body. It has a very bony face, and has sharp ridges running down both sides of its body. It is NOT a pleco, its something else...

Pteradoras granulosus,these grow in excess of 24inches long.

Sweet! I knew it was a doradidae, just wasn't sure on species. Can't wait til this guy/gal starts putting on some size...

As soon as I saw it I knew it was unusual for he store. I asked a clerk and he said they got in 2 or 3, but they had it misidentified as the maracaibo. I was really hoping I'd get something that would get monster, and I finally got one! The only other "monster" catfish I have is my albino channel catfish.
BTW, how fast can I expect this guy to grow?

got one at blue planet(uk public aquarium) about 48in.

Huh, planetcatfish.com says up to 36".
