i think it is a chinese algae eater. not sure though i will try to get a pic up soon. i know they are good algae eaters to put in with danios because they are fast. but does anyone know if i can keep a pleco in a 20 gallon? i like have to have a bottom feeder in any tank i have and plecos are by far my favorite :)
Definitely an oto or chinese algae eater.
omg, this thread is totally confused LOL.
an "algae eater", is a common name for Gyrinocheilus aymonieri.
a pleco would be called a "pleco" in a fish store. ;)

ditto. store "algae eaters" are the chinese algae eaters. plecos would be labeled "pleco". but M|L already said that.

i know it wasnt a pleco i said i didnt get one because i didnt think one could fit in a 20 gallon. thats why i asked if they could, so does anyone know if i can keep one in a 20 lol?
Yes you could put a Pleco in a 20 gallon tank. Look for a Bristle Nose or a Rubber Lip. They get to be about 5 inches.

how about an albino chocolate pleco? i seen one today that was sweet, but i will look into the pleco. i think im going to put the algae eater by itself because i heard it will actually eat my fishes goo.

yea, i think so. i wouldn't go with the rubber lip as i have one and it bothers my fish sometimes (a. cichlids). the bristle nose are fine from what i've experienced with them.

ok i will definitley look out for a bristlenose in about a month or so. i heard they can starve to death in new tanks so that isnt good. i might setup my 55 gallon for so africans or something. i was also thinking about keeping about 3-5 cories instead of a pleco or can i get the bristlenose too? i will be keeping guppies and danios and some other small community fish. but mostly guppies. i will get 3 different kinds of male guppies (different breeds) and like 10 females :naughty:

In a new tank use algae tabs to ensure your bristlenose has something to eat (doesnt starve to death)

i was planning on buying a small bottle of algae tabs anyways and feed once a week. but im not going to buy a pleco until the tank is fully cycled and i have a few feedings and stuff so there will be stuff on the bottom . im planning on buying around 13 fancy guppies. btw if the ac 50 isnt enough filtration should i add a ac mini (20 i think). i cant wait until i get a job so i can get a 125 gallon tank and get me a big pleco like my old one. i used to have one that was 8 years old that my uncle had with the tank. he was my buddy lol his name was monster
