Please help me ID these fish. They were returned to my LFS by someone that had a tank that was too small to house them.

first one is some species of tilapia, and the second done is a blood parrot cichlid ( i think)

I agree, and the second is def. a Blood Parrot.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'll try and get a better photo of the first fish, but he doesn't stop moving so it is difficult.

Edit ... how big do blood parrots grow??

Here's a 'slightly' better photo....he's about 8 inches long.

8 inches is normally the average size a Blood Parrot grows to.

Looks like Tilapia aurea
It is def. a species of Tilapia if not Tilapia aurea.

I just googled your suggestion and it looks the same.

You guys beat me to it. The heavy-set body, thick tailbase, and thick lips point to Tilapia

1st fish is definitely an Oreochromis, what species? not sure, probably niloticus, or a hybrid

Looks like we all agree on the second pic being a Blood Parrot. As for the first, it's a Tilapia of some sort. I'll move this over to the African section to be more feedback.

Oreochromis aureus, thats what we have here in FL and looks just like mine
