Boo... that blows. They were offering a nice fat adult Mertens Moniter for $3,000 here in the states. He probably bought it, lol.

Yeah but if they're like San Antonio zoo, you might just need to be a AZA accredited facility to acquire any stock. I will ask around and see... I'd like to ask how you go about housing yours?

Last year there were two adult Male Mertens that were put up for funny money..........They both sold when they dropped to around $800.......Just sayin.......FR may be hatching them again though......

Youre right....they require AZA ....
I house mine in a large waterland tub, and built a wood frame around it to secure the animal in it as a young animal, I would go 8x4x4 with 50/50 land to water ratio.
I really want to see if I can toad proof an outdoor enclosure and keep him out there.

Last night I watched a Documentary called Lizard Kings, has a really cool section on Merterns eating crabs and snails out of the mud and catching fish.
