I bought it as an Emerald Pleco for $8, looks like a green peppermint pleco, and sometimes has light stripes, anyone know what it is?

Almost impossible....I barely got that shot from like 3 feet away. I believe the eyes are really black.

Yeah 3", nothing special, literally looks almost just like a peppermint pleco, maybe a little different eye placement.
well it may be just a juvie peppermint then, but they usually are solid black. the only other one that springs to mind is the L004/005/028/073 Angelicus Pleco Hypancistrus sp. They have that light stripes to, and have varied numbers of spots (all of the same small size) and the lightness in stripes change too. the spots are said to get smaller with age, and they may become as light as the one below, check out http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/loricari/hypancis/10_F.PHP. the other one is a similar match to yours. i'll have a proper look tomorrow, im nackered now

If the color shown in the picture above is actually what they look like than it is a L005, if the eyes are black than it is probably an L028.

Looks somewhat armored for a pleco, perhaps a small panaque?
Are the polka-dots light orange in coloration? LDA31 maybe?
could be a small LDA31. does it have spots on the belly or is it white?

 It could be either a peppermint pleco or a Mustard Spotted Lyretail. I only say the Mustard type because the spots on yours look a little more yellowish than white. Is the spots on yours really that yellowish color or are they white in real life? :shark:
Below is a Mustard Spotted Lyretail Pleco.

 Your spots are a bit smaller than the ones on my picture. I found this picture on a Pleco purchasing site.
What do you mean by "They didn't show"? Do you mean you couldn't see my picture (I can) or do you mean it didn't look the same? :shark:
P.S. The common name is Mustard Spotted Pleco
Here's another picture (yours still looks the most like the un I.D.'d one)
