Found my 7" endi dead this morning & while I was checking him out I seen his mouth was full of rocks, gravel, & it was even visible under the gill. Is it possible he choked to death, never had a fish choke before???

maybe going for a buried pellet and inhaled some gravel? sux bro

I don't think i a fish could really choke because don't they just need water moveing over their gills to breath. If i am wrong somebody correct me. But what ever happened thats weard man!

That's kind of what I was thinking, plus none of my other fish show any kind of illness!

sorry for your loss, but it is possible. i have to say this is a rare occurrence but it does happen. thats why some people prefer sand, or perhaps fine gravel.

but bichirs also need to get air into their 'lungs', it's getting some O2 from the gills, and it may be able to go up to the surface to breathe air, but that air isn't getting through because of the gravel. don't know the exact mechanism, but thats my partial 'theory'

This may sound wierd but I put him in the freezer, rocks and all, so I could take a pic & show you guys. Once he thaws I'll show you.
