View Full Version : Temensis needs help
I have got one 5 inch temensis in a group of 10(similar size) which seems to have the disco vibes, it is swaying side to side, looks like it's dancing and in dark coloration, but when food is being thrown in, he rushes to devour and then goes back into his disco moods, definetely don't look right to me, but the rest of the PBs are fine, experts please help....

HMmmmm try sperating t from the rest of the group and see if his condition improves. Might have been picked on by the others but still needs to eat.
Maybe too cold or has a slight infection??? would be tempted to separate and treat with a broad range medication...? just a thought...
No signs of external infection on the bugger, his voracious appetite doesn't give a hint of internal infection,it's not getting picked on by it's mates either, thought of separating him, but then again solitary confinement might stress him even further...hmmm, thanks for the advice fellas

This can be common with the "low man" on the totem pole.
You said he does not get picked on? hmm.
Can you possibly get me a picture?
What size is the tank?
PH?
NH3?
NO2?
NO3?
GH?
Temp?
when was the last time you did a water change?
The tank is a 4ft by 2 ft, intend to house them in a bigger tank soon, PH is 6.5, water temp. is 30 degrees celsius, afraid I don't have the data on the other parameters you asked, water(1/3) change is done every week, was last changed 4 days ago, afraid I can't give a pic, the bugger is dark and it has difficulty stabilising itself, it's in an upright position, head up, tail down. Swims normally when going for food, in fact changes to near normal color when eating, and turns dark after meals. Puzzling....Thanks Master PB

this is probably a subdominate male.
when you move the group, keep him in the tank with some other medium sized fish and see what happens.
did this condition developed recently or he already has it when you got him? could it be a pb with swimming bladder problem?
This condition happened only recently(1 week ago), you might be right about the bladder problem, thanks

I am still not getting a clear understanding of his "Swimming" problem...
hmm.

usually fishes will turn dark when become stressed or they might want to blend to their dark surroundings.
the experience i've got with my pb is that they turned dark when i switch off the lights. but will change to their normal color when the lights are turned back on. have you tried leaving the lights on for a longer period of time as most of us will turn off the lights after feeding.
i can't think of anything that would help on the part on your pb not being able to stabalize itself. but i think it might be caused by internal infection. try not feeding it for a day or 2 to see if there is signs of bloating.
