I never really measured. Are there any other fish in your tank besides the gobies?

You will need a hydrometer but a very general rule is using MARINE salt mix;
1-2 tablespoons per gallon = 1.005-1.010 sg.
3-5 tbsp. = 1.010-1.020 sg.
6-7 tbsp. = 1.020-1.025 sg.

Brackish = 1 tablespoon of aquarium salt per 5g water

general rule .. some people go higher based on the plants & fish ..

some plants fish & inverts can't handle salt; so be sure the fish in question are cool w/salt

It's not per 5 gallons. Its per gallon, And you need to use MARINE SALT MIX. I use Oceanic's salt mix.

I actually have my salt content anywhere from 1.014 - 1.017, I tend to fluctuate it a little lower sometimes too.....It kind of creates a more natural enviornment for the fish, and they seem to like it. My guys are growing like weeds!

(guppy & repair helped me start my brackish tank)
