On sunday, I caught a 10 inch bluegill, and a 4 inch hybrid bass (hybrid between a white perch and something else I believe. It has horizontal broken bars)
Here are some pics:

I'm kind of new here so sorry if the pics are too big.
EDIT: its 4 inches not 3 for the bass

C:\Documents and Settings\Chaz\My Documents\My Pictures\Wiper\Wiper 002.jpgI think its a wiper, which is a cross between a white bass and a striped bass. They have broken stripes. This is a picture of an 18 pounder I caught. It was 32". The fish in its mouth is a 15" walleye my friend caught, I put it there for kicks lol

That's a huge bluegill, what size tank do you have those fish in? How are they adapting? I find that larger older fish have a much more difficult time adjusting to captivity than young fish.

UPDATE: The bluegill is still alive and eating. The bass I found out was a chesapeke or a hudson strain which had broken bars because wipers don't live in Massachusetts. The bass isn't eating however.... (I'm feeding earthworms)
Uhh... I hope no one raids my hosue lol. Its not legal to take a bass that small.
(What happened to the edit button?? lol)

The bluegill and the bass are both in a 55 right now. I put them in a 5.5 for photographing then I put them back in the 55.
The bluegill is eating the eathworms I'm putting in, but the bass isn't eating.

Try some rosys for the bass. I just got a 10in sunfish the other day and he just demolishes them.

Already tried those. I put in some gambusia too... they're still alive. None of them eats them lol

That bluegill might be intimidating to him. Bluegill are nasty I would watch out. He might be the reason your bass isn't eating.

actually... they are the best od friends... Whenever I walk near the tank, the bass likes to huddle behind the bluegill.

All species of temperate bass (striped bass, white bass, yellow bass, etc) are major fish eaters. I have very rarely caught them on worms while fishing, 99% of the time it is on a baitfish or crawdad imitaion, so if you can get crawdads small enough try them, or if you could collect some native baitfish, that might work too. Good luck! I had a small wiper about 5" in my aquarium and I couldnt get it to eat either!

My white bass ate only minnows when I fisht got him. Over time it began to eat earthworms then pellets.

yes..ive caught almost all of by bass on either worms or minnows...just wait longer...not once have i ever seen a fish starve...he'll eat eventually
meepster

he must be eating something.... Theres a worm screwing around the bottom of hte tank which means that hte bluegill is full.
The feeder shrimp and 1 of the gambusia affinis have disappeared so I assume that hes eating behind my (or rather the bluegill's) back.
I really hate how the edit button disappears after someone posts after you.
Also, I kinda want to sell him on aquabid... but I am afraid because I took the bass illegally. 4 inches is nowhere near the legal bag size lol.

anyone wanna buy em off me?? I'll let em go for like 5-10 bucks plus 5 bucks shipping. I already have em on aquabid so if you want em, get em now before someone bids.

You should get ready for a big bill on food for that thing because of this.

Your going to try to ship them? A 10" bluegill? If you didn't want them you should not have kept them and let them stay in the wild. Selling native fish is also illegal without a permit.

Well, the bluegill commited suicide by banging itself on the hood and died. I weighed it and its not even close to a state record lol. The state record is 1 pound and my (now dead) bluegill is only 5 ounces.
The bass is sold too.
