Are bettas compatible with guppies, zebra danios, and cory cats? I really want a betta because they are so colorful but im not sure if it will beat up the other fish. I seen them at petsmart they are called crowntailed bettas that i like. I can even keep a female in a 1 gallon and eventually try breeding them. but right now i just want to know if they are compatible? Thanks.

Yes they are but I find that if you just stick them in they cant tend to be a bit nasty. But what I did was bought a breeders net and stuck him in it for about a month and let him get used to the new tankmates so he could see they weren't a threat. Then he was good and left them alone.

When I just put him straight in he attacked everybody constantly.

I see it done quite frequently :)

ok i will put him in and if he doesnt harrass the other fish i will leave him but if he does ill move him to my 1 gallon and buy a breeder net and then try again lol

if the danios nip on any fins they are going to be the ones removed form the tank, because i will have a bunch of fancy guppies in there too.

Ive heard some folks have had a male betta take a dislike to fancy fantail guppies
ur right i bought one yesterday and i watched them and everything was fine but when i got home later that day my male guppy whose tail was the same color as the betta had his tail all nipped up and looking bad. i was so mad. that betta is going to my friends arowana. he even took a small chunk out of my best looking female guppies tail. do their tails grow back? i know they prolly wont grow back the same but as long as it grows back looking better than it does now. poor things, they will get justice though lol.

yea they will grow back. cories should def be fine, but seems like you found the probs with the other 2. slightly unrelated, i saw a sea betta today. didnt know they were around, but then again, i'm not a saltwater person
