no. one fish or the other will get killed no matter how you have it set up.

Nice looking manny!
Good luck growing them large cause I dont think anyone has grown one up past 10" or so as they seem to suddenly die for no reason.
How much was he?

no its not, best diet for them is white meat, white fish fillets, raw shrimp, talpia etc..
Very nice, awesome P. Do they grow fast or very slow?

Wow, That's a real nice specimen. I can't wait to get my hands on one of those. I'm on a waiting list.Enjoy.
Mike
congrats on the pick up...i wouldnt say largest piranha species, yea ive seen acouple huge mannies but in a home aquarium im thinking the largest it would grow is up to 10" and its going to take awhile. Good choice on the diet with white meat, and raw shrimp you can try and train him to eat pellets also.

No one has ever grown one to 10", they're bought at that size. These fish rarely grow out an inch or two before mysteriously dieing for some unknown reason. Maybe you'll be the first, good luck. By the way Pirayas get just as big and I have one for sale and they grow alot faster than yours if you are interested let me know. I did the research on your fish and went this route instead and lost interest. Pirayas are the largest grown capitive P, and have been know to grow up to 16" plus. In the wild they have been seen at 24" plus. Largest manny usualy seen is around 10" and was imported that way. I had a 15" Black Rhom that was brought in the same way. Normaly this type of fish doesent grow to this size in the aquairum, it has to be bought this way.

i loove manuellis, not only are they the biggest but they are one of the most aggressive if not the most..be careful when working in the tank because they have the ability to take a nice chunk out of you once he starts to put on some size...good luck and congrats
