Actually the blue pond with no markings was the real pond. The one with markings is a kiddie pool I put the fish in while I was cleaning the main pond.

They work out good but Kiddie pools are only about 12" deep. one thing to look out for is Fish on the ground. they jump out easily.

I used to have a couple of those on the back porch that I used for spawning zebra dianos and leopard corys in, seperate pools of course. I would just wait for warm weather and fill them up, add a few bunches of anacharis and a handful of duckweed, then wait a week and drop in a couple dozen breeding size fish. Feed them well, flake and live food. By late summer I would have a lot of fish to trade.

the parents don't eat the fry, guppy?

I would guess thats what the duck weed was for, to keep the fry from being eatin

yeah, but i just figured that in an enclosed environment like that, it would only be a matter of time before the babies start darting out to get food, and then get spotted and consumed themselves. So i thought, anyway.

Sure they do, at lest the zebras I'm not sure about the corys, lots of duck weed and elodea, flake and granular food, t. worms and brine shrimp often. No matter how many gor eaten I always had more at the end than I started with.

I saw a lot of sturgeons in fish stores while visiting China, must be a very popular fish there.

Yep I agree, going to put my Koi in a 900 show pond and turn my 350 gal stock pool into a stingray tank. building my own Bio filters and fluidized filters to maintain water quality. Would love to add some Arapaimas, and Amazon gars get them big and move them when I build my wall tank. After looking at some of the home built tanks on this site. I'm even more convinved I build and even better one after leaning from them. I would love to se someone take my plans and go even furhter. Nice to see so many DIY who will push the limites a little. Hope to add to the site with my plans and pic. Staring to buy materials and equipment. By the end of the year I should have the footing for the new addition. Well just completed my water changes and heading out the Salmon are running and its fishing time. Take care and send me any good links to buy some Arapaimas and Amazon exotics please let me know. Anyone heading to Alaska let me know.

Can you try again with the pics, none will open.....I'm puting tgether some young stock for my tank are there any Amazon Gars that you know of and if so where can you get them.....I've been through this site several times and I get involved with a topic then forget where the gar threads are. I will put all in 442 gal show tank or a 900 gal kid pool until mine is built. My wife thinks I'm crazy decided not to buy a plane will put it into my custom tank. After seeing the pic from japan on his monster tank its given me a new direction I can build much bigger for the same cost as metal. BIGGER IS BETTER. Take care, and I really love the site its informative and relavent for MFKs
