got a question about how to get rid of snails another than a clown loch or yoyo loach. i have in my tank a frt, y-tail arowana, L200, royal and blue pleco, i did the dumb thing and put some live plants in the tank, by the way the arowana is about 20in thats why i afraid the loaches won't work

squish them w/ your fingers , then do a nice big h20 change, might have to repeat process 2 or 3 times......worked for my exodon tank........no more pesky snails......

before buying a loach what kind of snails are they? if they are the malaysian trumpet snails loaches can't crack the shells very easily.

I had a 3" clown loach in w/ my silver aro when it was 16," and it never touched it. It could just depend on the fish though

Howdy,

An increase in snail populations is always directly linked to too much food. Reduce feeding to the amount your fish can eat immediately, and you should be able to get a good handle on the snail population.
Besides that, consider snails a cleaning crew rather than a pest. If they don't eat the leftover food, it starts to rot and harms your water quality much more. Snails and plants are a good step towards biodiversity and a more stable tank

If you put a slice of watermelon or even cucumber or something in your tank overnight, it will be covered with snails by morning. Then you can just lift it out and toss it in the yard or whatever. If you don't get them all at once, you can do it again and again until you think you got 'em all.
