Hi, what's a good tank mate for these guys? I want an algae eater like a bristle nose pleco and thinking of putting a horse faced loach in also, will this work?

it all depends on what kind of puffer you are going to buy

I put three butis butis ( aka "crazy fish") in with my golden puffer, and they are all great together.
I've read that anything that is fast, cheap, or invisible works okay, for most FW puffers.

I have heard that some types of puffers have bitten plecos in half. I think a horseface loach would have a 50/50 shot- they are soft and probably tasty, but they do move quickly and bury themselves....

Thinking of getting a target puffer. Will any algae eaters or horse faced loaches go well with these?

There are several species commonly sold as "target puffers," e.g., Tetraodon leiurus, T. cochinchinensis, T. turgidus, etc. Most are pretty notorious fin nippers. I'd stick with free-swimming species as tankmates, as they are most likely to avoid getting nipped.

I have a red eye target puffer, and I wouldn't keep anything with him at all, not even ottos.

i have a fahaka in with my arrow cichlids pike bichirs. only reason he in there because he only 21/2 inches. he has taken small bites out of arrow fins but he leaves the rest alone. i am hoping maybe after a week or so he will quit and i can leave him in there until he grows some.
