Bought it at a LFS for 16.99.
He/she's about 4 inches right now, but I can't tell what kind of pike cichlid it is.
Looks like Crenicichla sveni.

That's Cr. anthurus from Peru.

Sveni....body color isn't right to be the other even though the lateral markings are similar. He's just not brightly showing the markings above the lateral black at the moment. Have had sveni's before.....def. is.

Sveni was my first thought...but it does have different markings...plus its missing the horizontal markings....anthurus does seem to be right on the ball though...beat me too it...:P

Yeah, we'll give it a few monthes. He's already greedily accepting freeze dried bloodworms, frozen blood worms, and feeders. I'm leaning towards sveni cause of the "eye spot" in the rear. but he's still a baby so ya never know.

No, not Crenicichla sveni. I'd say its a Crenicichla alta or a Crenicichla menezesi. That pike has strange features; the mouth is not that of a saxatilis pike, while the markings indicate that its a saxatilis pike. I'm quite sure its a saxatilis pike, however.

DEFINATELY a Saxatilis...lol....cuz its sure isn't a Lugubris or the R group that i can't member how to spell right now...lol....
