Just got the latest issue of FAMA Magazine August 2006 edition. On Page 106, I came across an add selling "JellyFish Systems". I checked out the web-site and I thought this was pretty cool. I've never seen a none public display of Jellyfish. A little on the high end, but very cool. :)

they need a kreisel design tank... and alot of food daily.... phytoplankton and baby brine shrimp.. and other things to.. im pretty sure.. i wish these would be left to public aquariums and the ocean,.. just to hard to keep

True to being hard to keep, but these guys must have found a market to build such a tank. I would like to know which people buy them and their feedbak regarding the care and up keep of these tanks.

I don't know, it got my interests. Just too much money though to spend on the tank. I would rather spend that on a new 500g from GlassCages!!:grinyes:

Cause the tank has to be circular, cause in a regular tank they would get stuck in a corner. Also they need a constant flow so the jelly fish stay suspended in the water, and it is most likely buit into the tank.

I have 2 upside-down jellyfish in a 24 gallon nano cube. Paid $10 each for them 4 months ago.

Cool, Please Post Pictures. I'm sure the nano set-up is a sight to see with those in the water!:D

i heard that if they hit the glass they die... (hence the reason for a Kreisel tank...)

did anybody else scroll down and see the coral fragment tank, i would never pay 1500 for that, imagine how easy that is to make!

i also agree with whoever said that jellyfish need to stay in the ocean or public aquariums

everybody loves to see them, but theyre very hard to keep, and and and, think about how the jellies feel, they need a wide open ocean, not a cramped lil tank that is offered there

I always thought jellyfish would be cool to keep but I dont see how you could becuase they seem like they would need alot of space and I thought they poped when they came to the surface of the ocean w/alot of light (I could be wrong - I am slatwater retarded) but would they do that in a home aquarium, if that is true? Anywho I tooke these pics of a jellyfish aquarium awhile ago: =)

That would be a great tank. It would be cutting edge fishkeeping, but I am pretty sure I am the first person to keep a box of fish sticks in an aquarium. Now that is cutting edge!

jelly fish need a curent going around so they dont crash into the glass, thats why they need O tank. DIY would pay of you wouldent spend as much money.

I think a DIY box jelly tank would be amazing. If I knew how to build a jelly tank and was able to take care of a box jelly. Anyone out there hear of people doing that?

My company Jellyfish Art breeds jellyfish and makes specialized aquariums for them. If you're interested, we can build you a tank for less than $1K. www.jellyfishart.com is the website. Feel free to contact me, I'd be happy to answer any questions

Those tanks have been around for a very long time. Jelly fish tanks are referred to as kreisels. They are very expensive because the glass or acrylic has to be curved and not just simply stuck together. I would not recommend any nonprofessional in keeping pelagic jellyfish. They are very sensitive organisms and some have a potential of harming you. Filtration is difficult too since its extremely easy for them to get stuck in them. I have cared for jellyfish before and its not easy. First off you need to breed your own copepods etc.. They can not catch dead food. You need to be extremely wary of water params and monitor them like a hawk. If you like jellyfish leave it to professional set ups and go see them at a public aquarium.
